I’ve compiled everything you need to know about Jazz:Re:Found 2023 in this blog article.
Italy has a lively tradition of music, and jazz plays a significant role in it.
Although jazz originated in African-American communities in New Orleans, it quickly gained popularity in Europe during the early 20th century. Italy, in particular, has embraced jazz since World War II and nurtured vibrant jazz scenes across many cities.
After the fall of the dictatorship, “La Galleria del Jazz” became the first radio broadcast (from 1945 to 1946) that introduced Jazz music to the country. It paved the way for spreading various American styles like Bebop, free jazz, and fusion across Italy.
Talented musicians such as Bruno Martino, Frank Buscaglione, and Natalino Codognotto – one of the pioneers of Italian Swing – had a big impact during this post-war period.
Today, jazz continues to thrive culturally in Italy.
The country is home to top-notch artists who continue to push boundaries and hosts numerous festivals dedicated to jazz lovers in every major city.
It’s worth mentioning one festival that stands out: Jazz:Re: Found.
Jazz:Re: Found is returning to the beautiful setting of Cella Monte, in the Unesco Hills of Monferrato, with an exciting lineup of artists who will be entertaining you across four days, from August 31 to September 3.

Jazz:Re:Found – The 15th Edition
Jazz:Re:Found is back for its 15th year, bringing you the best contemporary jazz and dance-infused rhythms all in one fantastic festival.
Back in 2008, Jazz:Re:Found started its journey under the guidance of Denis Longhi, the founder and artistic director. The inspiration behind it comes from the Big Chill Festival held in the United Kingdom.
The impact of Big Chill was magical, and it felt natural to recreate a similar experience or at least bring its essence to Italian audiences. This led to the inception of Jazz:Re:Found, starting with its first edition in Vercelli and then expanding to include editions in Turin and finding a home in the charming Cella Monte.
Throughout its existence, Jazz:Re:Found has consistently dedicated itself to showcasing an electrifying jazz movement that has featured renowned artists such as Jazzanova, Cinematic Orchestra, Mr Scruff, De La Soul, and Roy Ayers – to mention a few.
Jazz:Re:Found Festival evolves the indoor glories that have consecrated it, in Turin, the role of forerunner in the exploration of new jazz and black music languages, catapulting us en plein air in the heart of Monferrato (Cella Monte).
