HISTORY
Did you know that Jazz Refound has been happening for over 13 years?
Of course, it has some history to know about.
Jazz Refound was opened in 2008 by founder Denis Longhi and initially held in Vercelli. Thanks to the success received during the first edition in 2009 reached great visibility featuring artists such as Lamb, Jazzanova, Jose James, and Casino Royale.
The festival continued to grow. From 2015 to 2018, Turin was the central city. But after years away from the local community, in 2019, Cella Monte became the new home of Jazz:Re:Found, bringing the perfect fusion of identity, tradition and innovation.
Originally the festival started off purely for black music, and today presents a thrilling jazz movement and different musical contaminations.
MUSICAL CONCEPT
The name of the festival brings a clear mission: refound. In particular, rediscovering the genesis of jazz and giving a clear message to all music lovers.
Certainly, Jazz ReFound has a great connection to Gilles Peterson and Worldwide FM, promoting new frontiers of Jazz, Hip-Hop and electronic music.
Here’s a list of the artists hosted over the years: Robert Glasper, Thundercat, Yussef Dayes, De La Soul, and Nubya Garcia, to mention a few. It’s undeniable that the new contemporary UK Jazz Scene is part of it, and that’s what the festival is about, bringing diverse heritages together and creating a new cultural context.
BOUTIQUE FESTIVAL EXPERIENCE
The festival calendar reveals the full potential of a territory that combines an offering of high-quality performances with the tourist attraction of a UNESCO world heritage site.
As with the previous edition, an essential element will be the courtyards of Cella Monte: five separate unique stages where most of the shows will take place. You will also enjoy camping and collateral activities such as bike excursions, trekking, yoga, and more.
