In this blog article, I’ll be discussing the fourteenth edition of Jazz:Re:Found with Denis Longhi.
Denis Longhi is the founder and artistic director of Jazz:Re:Found, one of the best boutique jazz festivals in Italy with great attention to the UK jazz scene.
As a music lover, DJ, and curator, he has constantly been researching new trends since an early age. Denis’s parents introduced him to music, and one day at a local market in Portogruaro (a town near Venice), they bought him a unique album.
“My parents bought me this album called Jazzmattaz by Guru. It was surprising to me listening to a new concept of Jazz blended with Hip-Hop.”
Denis Longhi
It felt like a door was opening to something new.
Denis was 14, and Jazzmattaz completely changed his view and approach to music. Most importantly, it was the first piece of the puzzle to discover different sounds, from house music with Nuyorican Soul to Acid Jazz with Jamiroquai and Incognito.
“I was lucky enough to be able to discover a beautiful world.”
Denis Longhi
Later, his travels to London in the late ’90s led him to meet Gilles Peterson and Worldwide, discovering the world of future Jazz and the west London scene.
The whole worldwide’s family and the nights spent at Bar Rumba with Gilles were of great inspiration, and from that point on, he started moving to festivals. The rest is recent history with Jazz:Re:Found.
In today’s interview, Denis talks about his musical background, the route into the festival industry, and what to expect from Jazz:Re:Found 2022.
