Looking back on a inspiring evening at Xjazz Festival 🎷
Sharing some thoughts about last night. 2 amazing live shows + an insightful talk with a true legend. I spoke about the second picture above: I loved every second of the discussion with the mighty @gyedublay_official at Berlin’s listening new bar @bar.neiro Gyedu took us on a incredible journey through his early days growing up in Ghana, working collaborations and his biggest inspirations. One thing that I couldn’t forget after listening was…if you don’t understand where music come from, and if you don’t understand the culture at least to some extent, it’s hard to really understand the essence of it. After the discussion, we slingshots to enjoy Gyedu playing live at @lidoberlin . But before his live show, I had the opportunity to see @alabaster_deplume taking us on a spiritual journey, brimming with profoundly insightful messages about the kind of person we aspire to become in our lives. 🎶❤️✨ The rest is a powerful group of self-taught musicians led by an extraordinary human being. Big shout to @dimitrazina for being a great host and @xjazzberlin and @bar.neiro for adding the intimate conversation in the festival’s programming. I believe we all need more connections. We all need more time to think about the role of music in our life.

2 hours and a half of connections, and beautiful commonality, sharing what we value, what moves us, what touches us deeply. It made me really happy and grateful to be part of this. Big shout to Paulo for taking us to an incredible journey on African percussion, and showing love for what he does as a music teacher. Finally, a BIG thanks goes to everyone who came. Thank you for making the effort to make something special happen again.

Looking forward to our second Music Travel Guide Talk Series feat. @paulocedrazmusic I first met Paulo last week and I had a great exchange. We explored a bit our topic of discussion this Saturday, African percussion, and took a lot of food of thought at home with me - just hearing him talking about music was very inspiring.
The subject matter that will be addressed include the clave: an essential part of most Latin American music. It’s crazy how such a simple instrument, provides the basic rhythm framework for numerous music styles.
